SEMINARY CLASSES FOR SPRING TERM

Did you know that seminary classes are held three nights a week at the Annex?  In addition to students meeting in the classroom, students are also participating in the same class via Zoom. This means if you cannot make it to the Annex due to traffic, distance, unexpected matters at home, or even if you’re away on a business trip, you can still make it to class.

Whether you want to audit a class or pursue a specific program, the next steps are on this page. Metro Atlanta Seminary offers so many opportunities to grow in your knowledge of the faith – Certificate in Christian Studies, Diploma in Biblical Counseling, Bachelor of Theology degree, Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, Master of Arts in Theological Studies and the Master of Divinity.  For more information on our programs, follow this link https://metroatlantaseminary.org/degree-programs/

We don’t want to brag, but our alumni include David McNeely, Jeff Norris, Eric Ryan, Ryan Carson, Davon Stack, Travis Nolan, Emilio Hood and Kelly Ward, just to name a few.  And our faculty includes Dr Randy Schlichting, Dr Bob Carter, Dr Tom Lutz, Dr McKay Caston, Dr Dennis Bennett, Dr Paul Cable, Dr Jimmy Agan, Dr. Bob Jolly and Dr Robbie Sherrill.

Courses Coming Up – SPRING Term (March 11 – May 15)

Here is a list of courses that will start in March (for more information use the link at the top of the page, “Academic Calendar”).  Registration runs from February 14 through March 7th. If you are not currently enrolled at MAS, be sure to start your application soon.  Remember if you cannot make it to class, just Zoom in!

  • Monday Evening –  Join Dr Bob Jolly at 5:30PM for the “Person and Work of Christ”This course explores what the Bible teaches about the Lord Jesus. The course covers the Person of Christ, dealing with His humanity
and divinity, and the Work of Christ, dealing with what was accomplished on Calvary.  Spend your time studying all about God the Son, not for the sole purpose of gaining head knowledge about Him, but to get to know Him better
and personally as He reveals Himself to us in the Old and New Testaments   Do you have opportunities to teach in front of a group or lead a bible study?  You will benefit from Dr McKay Caston’s class “Homilectics: How to Prepare and Deliver God-Centered Messages” from 8:00PM – 9:10PM. Classes start March 17th and run through May 12th.
  • Tuesday Evening –  Dr McKay Caston begins the evening at 5:30PM taking students through the gospel of John in his class the “Theology of John’s Gospel”. This course surveys the key theological themes presented by the apostle John including the deity of Christ, the meaning of miracles, the significance of time, the sovereignty of God in salvation, the nature of Christ’s saving work, and the role of the Holy
Spirit.   Dr Bob Carter picks up where he left off in “Church History I” and will start with the Reformation and go to the present day as he teaches “Church History II“.  This term it is a 2 credit course, starting at 6:50PPM and ending at 9:10PM.  Bob makes history come alive as he walks you through the “time line” upon which God used individuals and events to bring about His desired ends. (Church History I is NOT a prerequisite to taking Church History II.)  Classes start March 11th and goes through May 6th.
  • Thursday Evening – Dr Ed Dunnington will be leading students through the New Testament from 5:30PM – 7:50PM as he teaches our “New Testament Survey” course.  We also continue our Zoom only course on Thursday nights with Neil Gilmour teaching a course in Biblical Theology. Biblical theology enriches our understanding of the bible by exploring how the different biblical books contribute to its overall theological message and how in turn this overall message influences our appreciation of each book. This class is Zoom only and goes from 7:00PM to 8:10PM.

During the Spring Term we will not have classes April 7 – 11 (Spring Break) and Thursday evening April 17th (Maundy Thursday).

General Perimeter Member Procedures

Do you want to pursue a program, or just audit a course? Let’s talk about auditing first. As an auditor, you will be in the class and have access to all the material, but you are not required to do homework or keep up with the reading. The Audit Fee is $80 per credit hour. There is no application fee and the application does not take long. To get started, follow the link to the application page, then on the pulldown menu select the “MAS Application for Auditing Classes”.  https://metroatlantaseminary.populiweb.com/router/admissions/onlineapplications/index?application_form

Not sure what program you want to pursue, but you know you want to start taking classes? The Certificate in Christian Studies program requires you to complete the first year courses. These courses are required for all the Bachelor and Master degree programs.  Many of these courses are also part of the Diploma in Biblical Counseling program. So if you are hesitant, we’d suggest you start with the Certificate program of study. We have students that change to a degree program after their first term. They’re hooked!

To start this process, go to the same application page as auditors (above), but this time select “MAS General Application”. This application is a little longer, but you will receive a link so that you can go back and finish later. There is also a $50 application fee for this option. Tuition is $180 per credit hour. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. https://metroatlantaseminary.populiweb.com/router/admissions/onlineapplications/index?application_form

Discipleship Groups, Bible Study Leaders, and Members

Consider doing a group project. For example, your group might agree to meet and watch classes together, and depending on the time of the class, you could also break bread before or after your meeting. Or perhaps your group might consider utilizing a course as the major study piece for a term, with each member watching from his or her home, and then discussing what was learned and discovered during the group’s regular meeting time.

For Perimeter groups taking classes by Zoom only, we will provide a 15% discount on tuition (not audit fees). Once your group decides to move forward, send an email to Joe White with the list of the members that will be participating, and the class you wish to register for in the upcoming term. Once we confirm there is room for your group, your members will then be able to complete their application (Audit or General) and register. You can email Joe at:  joew@metroatlantaseminary.org

Questions? Please email Joe White or Randy Schlichting.
